There were faces appearing in the backs of pickups, in the contrast of streetlights a Volvo started coughing and dashing around, wild-eyed, looking for all the world like an agitated marmot. He was like some sort of pogostick wunderkind. I applauded his effort, but we weren’t nearly far enough along for that sort of behaviour. I grunted my disapproval, but he probably couldn’t hear me...
